INTERNATIONAL LABELING COMPLIANCE

Refers to the adherence of labeling requirements for products that are sold in different countries. These requirements are often set by the government or regulatory bodies of the countries where the products are sold. For example, In Mexico, labeling requirements are set by the Mexican government.

On October 1, 2020, Mexico eliminated three exemptions to mandatory compliance with labeling requirements. Prior to October 1, companies commonly used a non-commercialization letter to claim an exemption to the requirement to demonstrate compliance with one or more of the 14 NOM.

In the European Union (EU), labeling requirements are set by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA).
